Biography

Josh Banerjee is a senior fellow with the Civitas Institute, an assistant professor of intellectual history and economics at the School of Civic Leadership at the University of Texas at Austin, and an assistant professor (by courtesy) in the Department of History also at UT Austin. He has held visiting fellowships at Duke University, in the Center for the History of Political Economy, and the Civitas Institute at the University of Texas at Austin. He was also a 2024 James Buchanan Fellow at the Mercatus Center. His research interests span a variety of issues in historical economic policy and performance, as well as the history of both economic and econometric thought. Banerjee earned his undergraduate and master’s degrees and a Ph.D. in economic history from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
