Biography

Abby Thomas is a postdoctoral fellow at the Civitas Institute. Her teaching and research focus is the history of political philosophy, with a particular focus on the thinkers of ancient Greece. Her current research is a book-length study of Aristotle’s intricate treatment of pleasure and pain in his philosophy of moral and philosophic education. Before coming to the Civitas Institute, she was a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Politics and in the James Madison Program at Princeton University. She earned her B.A. from Hiram College and her Ph.D. from the University of Notre Dame.
