
Patricio A. Fernandez
Biography
Patricio A. Fernandez is a senior fellow at the Civitas Institute, and an associate professor of philosophy in the College of Liberal Arts. Before joining UT-Austin, he taught at the University of California, Santa Barbara. A former fellow at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University in 2022-23, he previously held a Humboldt research fellowship at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. He has been published in the fields of ancient philosophy, action theory, ethics, and the economic analysis of law. His research focuses on ancient and contemporary approaches to practical reasoning, human action, and the normative standards that apply to them. He received his Ph.D. in philosophy and economics from Harvard University.
