Biography

Tyler Thomas is a postdoctoral fellow at the Civitas Institute. His primary research focus is the intersection of science and politics, particularly the relationship between scientific knowledge and political authority. His current project investigates René Descartes’s contributions to the emergence of the West’s scientific culture. He comes to the Civitas Institute from Emory University, where he taught for the past two years after completing his graduate studies at the University of Notre Dame. He holds a B.A. from Hiram College and a Ph.D. from the University of Notre Dame.
